Project Spotlight: Egret Park
The transformation of Egret Park is a great example of what’s possible when design, collaboration, and smart planning come together. Park Planet was honored to be selected through the RFP process by the City of Brentwood, a partner we’ve had the privilege of working with on many exciting park projects over the years. Being trusted once again to help shape a community space was something we truly valued.
Originally built in 2017, the existing play structure had already reached the end of its usable life. With key components damaged beyond repair and the original manufacturer no longer in business, replacement became the most responsible path forward. From the start, the City approached the project with a clear goal: maximize play value for the community with a durable, long-lasting product. Through both the RFP process and prior experience working with Park Planet and Playcraft, the City was confident in the level of craftsmanship, quality, and longevity that a Playcraft playground could deliver.
In addition, City staff took an active, hands-on role—handling demolition and completing as much work in-house as possible. That effort allowed more of the project budget to be redirected where it mattered most: into new, high-quality play equipment for local families.
While Park Planet’s design was selected as the winning proposal, the final playground was shaped through close collaboration with City officials and community input. Adjustments were made to the original concept to ensure the layout, features, and play experiences reflected the needs and priorities of the neighborhood.
The resulting playground includes a prominent tower, a wide range of inclusive play elements, and a thoughtful surfacing strategy. Partial Poured-In-Place (PIP) surfacing supports accessibility, while engineered wood fiber helped stretch the budget further, balancing inclusive access with maximum play value.
Celebrated with a ribbon cutting attended by City leaders and local families, Egret Park is once again a vibrant community hub, rebuilt with intention, inclusivity, and longevity in mind.
