Built by Grit: Bernard, Iowa’s Community Playground
At Park Planet, we’re fortunate to work on a lot of playground projects, but every so often, one reminds us exactly why we do this work.
We don’t just design and install playgrounds, we partner with communities to help them get across the finish line. The City of Bernard playground project is a perfect example of that partnership in action.
This replacement playground was years in the making and driven by an incredibly committed group of local volunteers. The Bernard community raised funds, advocated for the project, and supported the process every step of the way. The volunteers even showed up during installation with homemade meals for the crews. Their persistence and pride in their town made this project possible.
Park Planet worked closely with the City of Bernard to deliver a durable, inclusive playground built for long-term use. From initial design and community input to final installation, every piece of this project was guided by the community’s vision. Today, the park is once again filled with movement, connection, and play.
